PROFESSIONAL EDUCATOR STANDARDS BOARD | Olympia, WA
Program Manager for Educator Preparation Program Effectiveness (September 2021 – present), Preparation and Credentialing Program Specialist (March 2019 – August 2021), Project Assistant (April 2018 – March 2019) State agency responsible for policy and oversight of Washington’s system of educator preparation and certification.
- Strategically direct and monitor educator preparation program review system for program accountability and support.
- Lead reviews for individual educator preparation programs. Provide individualized assistance to program leaders; recruit, convene, and train review team; synthesize and compile review team decisions into culminating report.
- Serve as agency’s rules coordinator: track and maintain all agency rulemaking.
- Draft WAC language to reflect stakeholder input. Review RCW and WAC to ensure compliance.
- Synthesize and communicate policy for administrators, teachers, university and college leaders, and other educators.
- Promote data use across the agency through participation in the internal data & research team.
- Engage in learning communities focused on anti-racism, contributing to evaluating my work with an equity lens.
- Co-facilitate community work groups to create equitable policy in areas including credentialing for educators of the visually impaired and deaf, responsive certificate renewal options, and more.
- Redeveloped ongoing educator preparation program approval process: built and implemented action plan, designed approval forms, led Board through process improvement, and created new internal and external resources. Feedback indicated that redevelopment efforts resulted in more articulated proposals that meet or exceed standards.
- Coordinated ongoing EPP approval process: communicated with and provide support for program leaders, facilitate and compile staff feedback from six staff member, and present to the Board.
- Analyzed and presented on qualitative survey responses from over 800 participants, leading to stakeholder and data driven policy changes affecting the majority of Washington educators.
- Streamlined internal processes: created agency wide action plan framework and facilitate internal pilot; produce and implement first-ever agency wide event planning process.

- Received teacher preparation from Teach For America, St. Louis (TFA). Attended University of Missouri – St. Louis while in TFA to meet teacher certification requirements.

Video Intern (June-August 2016): Multi-issue progressive think tank.
- Collaborated with education policy team to create video for new teacher pipeline campaign, TeachStrong.
- Tasks included distilling 9 policy proposals into culminating visual message, script writing, 2D animation, and video editing.
- Livestreamed all CAP in house events, and served as the production assistant on off-site shoots.
CITY FACES | St. Louis, MO
Co-President (May 2014-May 2016), Public Relations Chair (August 2013-May 2014), Tutor (October 2012-May 2017): Youth organization in St. Louis Public Housing, serving 50 children with Tutoring, Mentoring, Community Garden, and Girls Club programs.
- Managed 18 person executive board and coordinated 100+ volunteers.
- Initiated and executed ongoing strategic planning process, building a mission and vision driven organization.
- Guided organization’s fiscal strategy and expanded revenue streams that increased annual programming funds by 15% on average. Worked with treasurer on budget development and adherence.
- Partnered with the St. Louis Housing Authority, City Faces parents and community members, Mr. WashU (main fundraiser), and other external stakeholders to ensure ongoing community support and sponsorship of the program.
- Crafted first-ever volunteer and Executive Board member survey, launching volunteer training, internal communication, and community outreach improvements.
- Planned and moderated educational and advocacy events for 100+ attendees, led recruitment presentations, and facilitated volunteer trainings on topics such as social justice and discipline.
- Designed all brand/marketing campaigns contributing to an increase from 7 to 90 volunteers in 2 years.
- Launched a new website and monthly newsletter, managed social media.
